Fish of Kamchatka' rivers

Most of species inhibiting Kamchatka fresh water bodies and streams belong to the Salmonidae family. Their specific feature is the so called adipose fin located behind the dorsal fin and having an appearance of a skin outgrowth without ray bones.
Salmonidae includes big or middle-size species. They are characterized with small scale, a big mouth with well well-developed teeth, predator-type or mixed nutrition schemes. Alevins (except pink salmon) have specific dark crosswise stripes. Kamchatka region is characterized by three genii of Salmonidae: Pacific salmon, Pacific noble salmon and char.
